1960's fascinating. Take a look at the map:



Does it remind you of anything? Of course not. 1964 and 1968 are also in that mold. 1896 also interests me, as it was the first election fought on economics. Ah, hell, I like all of them. Even 1984.

1912, when the two-party system almost died.  And 1992 for the same reason.

In 1912, the two-party system had no chance of dying. The Progressives could have replaced the Republicans, but they would not have coexisted.
