Why the UK specifically?  Because it was there?

Several hundred years of UK meddling in Persian affairs?  The British have been screwing with Iran far longer than the US has.
Is there any country of any global importance that hasn't been "meddling in Persian affairs" at some point or another?....Brazil maybe?
