Stuttgart 21 has more supporters than opponents last time I looked, though.

I'm not one of the 50,000 people protesting because of a 1 in a million chance of something similar to Japan happening here.

I agree CDU-SPD will continue to govern, although I'm sceptical that the NPD will actually enter parliament.

Anyone else have a feeling the result is going to surprise us in some way? I have no idea in what way exactly...but it's just been so boring....and now turnout is a good deal higher than expected, that something unusual wouldn't surprise me.

Yeah, I suppose some other party than CDU could be first. Don't know if it is the Left or the SPD though. Maybe my prediction that the SPD will be ahead of the Left was incorrect, because the Left did much better than the SPD in recent elections in the state. But we'll see ...

Sachsen-Anhalt is fun to watch for me even though it's not really very interesting. Parties in the state are simply so close together (the CDU is a left-wing joke in reality) that I don't care who ends up winning.

But elections are still always fun Smiley

That's almost a surprise itself....the fact that there's absolutely nothing surprising Smiley

The FDP getting thrown out really doesn't matter much. Pleased the Nazis didn't get in.

Is it possible to have a red-red-green coalition where the leader of the SPD becomes premier even though the Left party has slightly more seats because the Green party wants an SPD premier and the SPD and Greens together have more votes and seats than the Left party does?

Theoretically, but I have trouble imagining it.

The CDU and SPD front runners don't have a problem with each other.

Well considering that the CDU in Sachsen-Anhalt is basically a Social Democrat party....not surprising.

I thought the Greens could have done slightly better, more like 8% or so.

But I guess the 3% from 2006 was the weakest result for any Green state party, right ?

So, the doubling is OK ...

It wouldn't have surprised me to see the Greens at 8%, actually. The anti-atomic idiots, I'm sure, were quite strongly motivated to vote.

We will see the NPD come over the 5%. Normally the numbers of the Nazi will be better in the evening.

Hope you're wrong.

We must wait for the final result to know the NPD is over 5%.

ARD apparently had them at 4.8 and has come down to 4.7 again. I think it's unlikely that the NPD reaches the 5% point anymore.

That's Saxony-Anhalt. There is all possible.

True.

At this stage, are the networks just adjusting their exit poll numbers or are they getting real results from across the state and adjusting the projections accordingly?

The latter.

Perhaps. Don't get too confident yet. You might regret it.

Even though the server of the StaLa Sachsen-Anhalt suxx, I have finally managed to load the results page after 10 minutes.

With 1789 of 2572 precincts:

32.6 CDU
23.8 Left
21.3 SPD
  6.8 Greens
  5.0 Nazis (damn)
  3.9 FDP
  2.8 FW
  1.6 TSP
  1.3 Pirates

Is it correct that the larger cities have yet to report? I haven't looked at city counts.

If so, I would assume that the Nazi numbers will go down somewhat.

Well....despite the generally boring election, I'm very very happy the Nazis didn't get in. I was worried there for a while.

Yes, certainly all Green voters are stupid hippies. That makes for a sh**tload of hippies.

Happy I haven't got access to German TV tonight. Very happy.
