If Paul only got 5th in 2007 I don't really see why he'd do so much better this time around.

Every campaign is pushing hard for a good result here (except Romney and Gingrich of course). McCotter's campaign in Ames is going to be a ghost compared to Paul, Pawlenty and Bachmann's.

Bachmann had just as good a ground game as Paul and is polling better statewide. Her victory shouldn't be surprising.

The only thing that's mildly surprising to me is that Santorum got 4th. And maybe Pawlenty should've broken 20%.
