MD-06 covers the heavily Republican Appalachian region in Western Maryland, but it's Democratic, because it extends to Montgomery County and was drawn specifically to draw out far-right Republican Roscoe Bartlett. MD-01 covers the Eastern shore and is essentially a GOP pack, but in 2022, the Democratic controlled Maryland legislature might try to gerry it as well by adding either Annapolis or Baltimore.
Isn’t there a decent chance MD-01 takes in PG?
No, it is needed for the AA VRA seat and also it's needed to keep Hoyer's seat as both heavily Democratic and white, to prevent him losing a primary or a GE, it's far likelier that MD-01 crosses a bridge to take in Annapolis, but a likely third AA seat makes that quite difficult.
