On the Middle East, Jimmy Carter is dead wrong.  He is committed to take the anti-Israel position, probably more out of a reaction to the support Israel enjoys among American politicians than anything else.  He wants to stay relevant, so he attacks Israel.  His books are filled with misstatements, and ad hominem attacks on Israel, with no facts to back it up.  Then, when he's invited to debate the issue, he declines, because he knows he can't back it up.

No, it's the fact that Carter is committed to only take that position, that he backs it up with false information, and then refuses to debate the issue.
