It’s too soon to tell. At this rate, it does look like the current situation will serve as more of a deterrent than an invitation.

The question is, When will China invade Taiwan? I don't think it'll be any time soon.
Maybe in 2025 or 2026 if Donald Trump gets re-elected in 2024. If not, then China will hold off on invading Taiwan until sometime in the 2050s or 2060s.

I don’t think it’ll be that extreme.

Taiwan ain't getting closer, physically or politically.  There is no reason to think the PRC gear or dudes will be that much better in the future.

They are still growing at a fast rate but they have their own headwinds.

There are some things now emerging down the road that might entice China to invade Taiwan. Especially if the economic and political costs of protecting Ukraine become too high (excessive, long-lived inflation and Nationalists regaining their footing across the "West").

it be a shame if they got Stuxneted

I wonder how much more advanced cyber warfare has become. This could be the #1 reason for achieving Quantum Supremacy. That is, the ability to guess the toughest passwords.

Quote
or (arguably) India.

India has nuclear weapons.

That’s why I put “arguably”. This didn’t stop China from taking more land in Aksai Chin two years ago.

There is absolutely no chance of China invading the plains of India but they very well could grab more land in the Himalayan region to placate domestic jingoism.

Does India have a large enough nuclear arsenal to deter a full on Chinese invasion? I can see between 100 of theirs and 300 of China’s it could be a nasty war of attrition between two countries that could field 50 million+ strong armies.
