The former, of course. Capitalism and Socialism are both bad. On the other hand, strong cultural norms are superior to having none. Especially if there isn’t any violent cohesion and system actually provides well for its residents.

Christian left generally sounds better. I can't imagine it has legal gay marriage though. Assuming it doesn't, does it have civil unions, nothing, or some kind of institutional homophobic conversion attempts?

Plenty on the Christian Left support gay marriage, and some churches were even ahead of the rest of the United States on the issue.

It could have pretty secular laws and regulations  in general but have a conservative culture. That could potentially be the best thing.
