PA McCain volunteer (possibly) assaulted

Just saw this on MSNBC.

A college age woman who had volunteered for McCain in Philadelphia Pittsburgh was mugged by a black man. After seeing her McCain bumper sticker the mugger allegedly said 'i will teach you a lesson' and then carved a 'B' into her face

Have not seen this on the web, but I imagine this is not going to help Obama, especially in PA.

Just to be clear. I created this thread because I saw 'breaking news' and I knew this was going to be an issue. I do not think that one thug has any meaning to who Obama is or who all blacks are.

However this happened in West PA, the place that McCain is pinning his hopes, and of course he is hoping for whites to deliver, especially conservative white Dems. This story is likely to be big in the local news and is not going to help.

The evidence being that the B is backwards (as if done in a mirror) and she refused medical attention and didnt call the police right away.

I guess it is possible. Remember yesterday is the day McCain when 'all in' for PA and western PA whites are the key to any chance.

Does that mean that the police don't even have the original ATM attack (before the aleged attack at her car) on tape? ATMs have cameras.

This girl is clearly a 'true believer'. She took time off from college and moved from TX to PA to help McCain. That isn't your average campaign volunteer who drops by the HQ to stuff envelopes.

Of course Drudge is all over the story but spinning it as 'MCCAIN VOLUNTEER 'ATTACKED AND MUTILATED' IN PITTSBURGH...'

I am still not sure. I feel horrible thinking that this could be a hoax. If it isn't I would be a real jerk, but there just seems to be too many things that don't add up. and right now there are no witnesses or camera evidence so it is just the word of a hard core mccain volunteer in western PA saying a giant black man carved a B in her face the day it was announced they either win PA or lose the election.

if this is a hoax, then maybe she was really assaulted and someone had the bright idea...hey lets turn this into a racial political thing to help the campaign? That would be slightly less creepy than the full out hoax where some friend of hers beat the sh**t out of her to sell the hoax.

bottom line, how will those conservative democrat whites in western PA (who would be the target of this kind of race baiting) react to find out that a mccain volunteer tried to trick them by faking a hate crime to turn them against Obama. Cant imagine that would win McCain many votes.

If this woman really did make this up, then she is a disgusting piece of trash and obviously deserves to be punished. That being said, I still doubt that it is a hoax and I really doubt that any respectable political organization would be involved in this.

Even still, my first point about this shaping how people feel in certain areas still stands. Whether that ought to be the case or not isn't relevant.

why do you doubt it is a hoax. Right now there is only the word of a McCain volutneer. A woman who gave up college and moved to PA to help what looks like a losing cause. There is no evidence and according to the most recent report, evidence that looks like she made it up. Why would the police be polygraphing a victim?
