The buzz for Reagan after his 1976 speech was that maybe they nominated the wrong guy. Cruz' speech started off strong and Reaganesque but without echoing Reagan's call for unity he ended up potentially hurting his 2020 chances. He needs those Trump supporters. Will Cruz' speech/non endorsement become like Christie's hug of Obama, something people can point to as a reason why the GOP lost in 2016? (not saying it will cause the loss, just that people will say that the party was unified, and he bears some of that responsibility). Kasich (and potentially Sasse) will already dominate the NeverTrump wing, Cruz needs those evangelicals that chose Trump over him on Super Tuesday.
