Georgia senate seats runoff(s) megathread

100,000 seems like it's pushing it. NYT has Perdue 763 votes ahead of Trump. Granted, for some reason they have more votes counted for President than Senate (not sure if this is undervote or just a reporting quirk: NYT says Pres is at 100% in but Senate is at 99% in), but going off percentages I would guess that there are about 20,000 of these voters tops. That's certainly enough to swing a close election, but I don't think there's this huge mythical group of split ticket voters.

What if there are tens of thousands of low-information Trump voters who didn’t bother to vote for Senate? That would allow for a large number of Biden-Purdue voters.

I guess that could be it, but from a cursory glance at the data I see more evidence of Biden voters not voting for senate than Trump voters, and in the absence of such evidence I would hesitate to say that there were enough of them to make up that 80k gap.

Signs are pointing to a narrow Perdue & Loeffler Win. While the AA Vote is on par to match the 2018 GA Governor Race the Electorate seems a lot older on Tuesday compared to 2018 which should help Republicans unless older Voters have completely changed their Voting pattern.

We need race/age crosstabs. There's no way to tell which older voters are turning out.

I would much rather a 68 year old Black woman turn out than a 22 year old white man who doesn't care about the election now that Trump isn't on the ballot but would absolutely vote Perdue/Loeffler if he did go vote.

This is sooo wrong from you! Younger Voters trend to vote more Democratic. That is uniformly confirmed in all 50 States. Older Voters trend to be voting more Republican and are also of less colour and White.

Ossoff and Warnock still need between 30-32 % of the White Vote to win the Election and they ain't going to get that.

Georgia is different than the nation as a whole lol. The number of Georgian elderly black voters who vote Republican is double digits, I would bet.

Interesting. If it were the opposite people would be saying that it shows how going to the left is horrible in swing states. Yet the leftist guy had the better performance.

He ran against an appointed, corrupt, race-baiting, out of touch opponent. Ossoff ran against an Georgia-born elected Senator whose cousin is a former Governor and member of Trump's Cabinet.

Okay but Warnock was supposed to be very unelectable based on his progressive stances. He’s clearly more to the side of the Bernie group, having more of an anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist background aligned to the anti-racism (reminds me of what MLK preached). Yet that regular narrative that it should be bad for the party in a swing state failed in practice

Warnock is not a "progressive". He is a standard Democrat by any definition of the word. You can evidence this by how the twitter progressives are not really behind him. Evidence of a candidate that is a great fit for their constituency unlike folks like Eastman that the a section of the progressives got too greedy with the in general.

Counterpoint: 90% of Twitter progressives are dumb as rocks, and I say this as a socialist myself.

Worth noting here is that the Democrats' campaigning in non-English languages was nuts, especially for a state like Georgia which is overwhelmingly English speaking, especially compared to other reddish states like Florida, Texas, or Arizona. Not only was there Spanish language outreach, there was Korean, Vietnamese, pretty much everything and the kitchen sink. Really hope this continues and that the national Democrats take notes.
