Flashy clothes and looks are a distraction to concentration on academic endeavors. Distractions exist in enough abundance in the young, without adding ones that can be excised. Clothing affects behavior! Book it.

Ever been a kid Torie ? School uniforms cause problems among many and are a product of fascist countries. Besides those who focus on clothes don't focus on academics because they don't care in the first place not because of clothes.

I've never seen a properly-conducted study on the matter that concludes it has a positive effect, just school district evaluations (useless) and other anecdotal evidence.  Before someone makes me wear a polo shirt, I demand some damned science.

Yep. So I am against ugly ones. I want my school to look like a country club, not a public school.

Nah I just mean whatever is popular(like Quicksilver, Billabong, non tight pants), and the funny part is I don't even skateboard much so I am really a poser.

Really?  You aren't that far from me, and if I went out in shorts in DC in February I wouldn't make it two blocks.  Hell, I didn't go outside in shorts until mid-April this year.

In Idaho you can't really wear shorts until mid-May and in some years June.

Average May 15th temp: High 67 F, Low 43F, Mean 55F

Average June 15th temp: High 73 F, Low 49 F, Mean 61F

See my point, by mid-September you pretty much already have to put them away.

Well then you aren't preppy at all. Preps are people who drop $80 for a polo/lacoste shirt.

I know but there are no preps where I live so that is my way of explaining myself.

I don't skateboard. I play golf.

I've golfed in skateboard shoes

I did to but they suck for grips so I just wear my running shoes for golf.
