I think it was pretty obvious just two days into his term that Trump would rank near the bottom of the historical list of Presidents, even just based on his lies about inauguration crowd size.

So based on the first two days of the Biden administration, where will he rank once his presidency is over?

Why? Seems like an interesting prediction to discuss.

My prediction has actually improved pretty significantly in the past two days.  My guess is he will rank near the bottom of the Top 10.

you think he would be worse than George W Bush? even hes not on the bottom 10 anymore.

Near the bottom of the Top 10 means like #9...like around LBJ or Reagan.

I pretty strongly disagree with this sentiment.

If you posted a thread to a sports message board that was something like "Who do you think is going to win the Superbowl in two weeks?", no one would responds "No one has any idea, the game hasn't even started yet".

I feel like we can make pretty strong predictions based on what we already know about both Biden and the political climate and issues he is likely to face.  If you buy into Skowronek's theory of political time, you can pretty strongly predict a president's ranking just based on his party and the success or failure of the presidents who preceded him.

And I had pretty clear impression of where I thought Clinton, GWB, and Obama would end up in the rankings on their inauguration days, and they all ended up being pretty close to accurate.  (To be fair, Obama's presidency ended up being mostly a disappointment to me, but for some reason other scholars tend to rank him more highly than I do....i.e. they rank him where I thought he'd end up at the start of his term rather than where I'd rank him now.)

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see him crack the top 10 but since so many of 1-10 are already locks (Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Roosevelt, Truman, etc.) I voted 11-20. Considering the trifecta, Democratic unity, and the general ambition of his proposed policy, I fully expect him to pass more relevant legislation than anyone since at least LBJ.

The last several polls have consistently put Lincoln, FDR, Washington, and TR as the top 4, then Jefferson, Truman, and Ike as 5-7 in some order.

But after that it’s pretty inconsistent.  LBJ, Kennedy, and Obama all pop up in the 8-10 range depending on the survey.  It’s seems quite reasonably to me to believe that Biden could rank at least as high as any of them.
