The election of outsiders in the US correlates with waves of discontent with the establishment (collapse of the post-war New Dealer consensus by Reagan's time, collapse of the California GOP by Schwarzenegger's time, collapse of the neoliberal end of history by Trump's time), which IMO has been receding since about 2019 (The "TrUmP iS dEsTroYiNg OuR dEmOcRaCy which totally existed in the first place", "dO yOu WaNt ChInA tO wIn" rally-around-the-flag).
