Beto is easily my second choice after Bennet. If Bennet's run doesn't work out, I won't hesitate for a second to throw my support behind him.

what if Neil Abercrombie runs?

I swear weren't you the R-IL avatar that hated Beto in Dec/Jan or was that grassroots?

Hmmmm....im listening Beto

Trust his conservative record, not his liberal promises. Let's not fall into this trap again.

This. Beto is Obama 2.0.

Sounds great to me.  I'd take Obama back in a heartbeat.

Are there people stupid enough to believe that accusing Beto of being Obama 2.0 is going to hurt him?
This is the Democratic primary people, not the Communist party one.

Beto reeks of an empty suit who will try to use his good looks and charisma to propel himself to a position he has not earned yet, and who the people would put their whole faith on, only to be sorely disappointed in the vein of Trudeau or Macron.

True, he's like an upgraded version of Jon Ossoff.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who was thinking this.

I understand the created-in-a-laboratory angle, but Ossoff avoided partisan or liberal comments, and Beto has staked his flag on the Democratic side on many points. Did Ossoff say anything like what Beto said about NFL protests?

NFL protests is exactly the type of vaporware issue that neoliberal stooges like Macron and Trudeau use to blind the left while screwing over the working class.

you trying to make me support him?

Seriously! It has really left a bitter taste in my mouth. One of the primary reasons I was for him was because I thought he’d be able to maneuver a general electorate with progressive policies. Of course my vote is almost a year away so I will see what he says on the debates but it’s looking grim for me as a continued supporter. I will not be content with working with Republicans as an answer when they will always be negotiating in bad faith. It’s unacceptable.

Why does Beto absolutely have to do the same as all the other candidates are doing, as in moving further and further to the left?

I dont support universal healthcare but this is just an extremely stupid move in a Democrat primary.

The funny thing is that gritty old Spanish cowboys are actually way cooler than yuppie entrepreneurs.

Yuppies contribute more to the economy.

Wow Im liking him more and more. Having a serious discussion about SS is important. It was made in the 1930's and dependent on an expanding population. It is now barely getting by because the US has illegals who pay into it but don't get anything back.

Does anyone think Tammy Baldwin or Tammy Duckworth are good picks?

If it weren't for the fact that she's barely into her first term, I think Gretchen Whitmer would be an excellent pick.

Baldwins seat probably flips in a D president midterm so she should be avoided. Duckworth's seat is almost perfectly safe and even it does flip the GOP incumbent would be a one termer.

For the D's duckworth basically checks every box they want
Female
Veteran
Minority
Wounded
Comes from Midwest.

Oh boy.

Who does he take from? Harris? Sanders? People undecided between them?

He'll probably take away from some of the millennial/gen z vote from Bernie Sanders.

clearly those voters are very smart people who are gonna vote on how liberal their candidate is and not stupid stuff like how relatable or cool the candidate is. Why would they vote for Beto over Sanders?

Beto is off to a good start after all- Raising $6.1 Million in the first 24 hours, topping Bernie's $5.5 Million & Kamala's $1.5 Million.
*5.9 Million

However, I’d personally be more comfortable if we know how many donors he’s raised this amount of money from. To compare, Harris was ~38K and Sanders was ~225K.

My mistake regarding $5.5 vs $5.9.  Regarding the number of donors- he may have released this number- I haven't read an in depth article on the fundraising info.  But I do know that his Senate campaign received a lot of small dollar donors.

I expect he had a lower amount of donations than Sanders as its more #woke suburban women donating to him than #broke college students.

The last two Dems that had this "It" factor are make up the last 16 years of Dem Presidential years in the White House.  (and they were in their 40s as well)... and pretty good winning formula.

Are you telling me the average voter doesn't really care about issues that deeply(obviously being an actual Republican wouldn't work) but instead cares about useless stuff like retail politics and speeches?

IMO beto should switch to the senate. He is perfectly fit for the senate race in Iowa with that #retail politics.

There are already O'Rourke signs around campus, which is, frankly, amazing given how far we are from even the first primaries.

Same with mine.

Its happening.

Several of my friends who were big Sanders supporters back in 2016 appear to have been converted into being Beto supporters. Make of that what you will. Frankly, I was surprised by it.

Although this is Anecdotal and I take it with a large grain of salt

ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT the average Sanders supporter in 2016 just voted for whoever was the coolest D and not the most liberal as most democrats agree on atleast 80% of the issues.

Bernbots about to move the goal posts again:

FYI you can't win this

>IF beto's had less donations and a greater avg donation Berniebots will call him an elitist DNC hack fed by Wall street

If it is the opposite where he had more donations and a lower avg donation Bernie Bots will claim that Beto supporters aren't as motivated.
