Democrats may even be able to hold the Senate in 2014 if we can get net Senate seat gains this year.

If Democrats can get to 55 this year, they would probably have a pretty decent chance of holding the Senate in 2014.  Even if they do lose it in 2014, they will almost certainly get it back in 2014.  No way Kirk, Toomey, and Johnson survive Presidential year polarization and turnout.  Even Burr will have a very tough time in increasingly Democratic North Carolina.  The only real targets Republicans have are Nevada and possibly Colorado and those states are only getting tougher for them.  Also you have to figure that McCain and Grassley will retire and both of those open seats will be highly competitive.

Im beginning to think that Democrats will have a natural edge in the Senate most of the time.  Unlike the House, Republicans cant gerrymander the states themselves in their favor.
