I demand a recount! I demand all three precincts be recounted until they show a majority for the Chosen One!

*cough* anyways. Name and Shame'em:

Precinct 16-07 is Niihau island. John McCain received 35 votes, Barack Obama 4, and Cynthia McKinney 1. This represents something of an improvement on 2004 when George Bush received 39 votes, David Cobb 1 and John Kerry 0. Grin

Precinct 32-03 is located right at the mouth of Pearl Harbour, on the eastern side. It includes Hickam AFB and Honolulu Int'l Airport. John McCain received 231 votes, Barack Obama 198 and other candidates 3.

Precinct 46-01 is the western half of the town of Laie, on the northeast coast of Oahu near the northern tip. John McCain received 389 votes, Barack Obama 354, and other candidates 15.

Mazie Hirono's sacrificial challenger won 33-7. The losing Republican candidate for State Senate won 37-3.
They've voted for Inouye and/or Akaka in the recent past though IIRC.

Laie swung 68 points.  Good lord.
Laie is something of the capital of Native Hawai'ian Mormonism. Go figure.

It's also the seat of Brigham Young University's Hawaii Campus. Brigham Young University being a university, it's over on the democratic side of town.

BYU being more Democratic than the rest of the town?  Big Native Hawai'ian swing.  BYU is the Republican part of Provo.
Maybe I should verify that by looking it's location up on a more detailed map... but it wouldn't be surprising for BYU Provo and BYU Laie not to be correlated much.

Edit: Checked. Verified. Basically 46-1 is most of the town proper, and 47-1 is the campus and a small part of the town and some adjoining territory to the southeast. The Polynesian Cultural Center is in 47-1. The Temple is in 46-1.

47-1 voted Obama 999, McCain 639, others 50.

How did Maui County precinct 13-12 vote?  That's Kalawao County.
0-0 silly. You know that already. The result you're looking for is Mail 30 (13:12).

Obama 24, McCain 6, Nader 1.

Pfft, that's still 13-12, just a separate VBM listing for it.  Tongue

I see these are on the Atlas.  Go Dave!  (Or Lewis?)
Must be Dave. (Where on the Atlas? I don't see it.)

I've always wondered what a "Walk" precinct is?  Early walk-in votes?
I'm pretty sure of it.

But while we're doing strange counting thingees, Maryland breaks results down into day voting, absentee, provisional, and absentee #2. What's that - valid absentee votes that arrived after polling day?

Obama won 41% of those describing themselves as conservative, and 22% of Republicans. Wow.

McCain also only won four precincts in Vermont.
Ah, but in that case four precincts equals four towns. Smiley

digging througn Newsbank, I found that Niihue voted absentee exclusively from 1980 to 2000.
As Kalawao still does.
