This isn't surprising imo. Stein will likely be the presumed successor to Cooper, assuming both are reelected in 2020.

Will definitely be funny if the South Carolina seats flips but not the North Carolina seat because of this.
I would be inconsolable.

I'm not sure this will help Tillis enough. He's seen as a sleazeball establishment guy with a -22 favorable.
Tillis is the ultimate empty suit.

This seat is Madison's if he wants it in 2026 anyway, so, it's sad that either one will remain a dud til 2026.

The Democratic party's pick should have always been Jeff Jackson.

Even the divorce attorney for Tillis's ex-wife says this is a non-story.
Here's a picture of the first filing (the one that was dismissed after no action was after for over a year). It's interesting that they got married on Feb. 2, 1979 and had already "separated" by August 1979 (the first divorce filing was filed on Aug. 30 and claimed separation was on Aug. 12). Honestly it might just be a "young and stupid" type of situation where they impulsively got married and that the language under debate was included simply because it was what you needed in order to get a divorce approved at the time. Tillis was only 18 when the marriage occurred, after all. The second filing did not include the "cruel and inhuman treatment" language.
