I’d like to point out that Ossoff is Jewish. So a state with a notorious history of lynching Jews and blacks has just elected them to the senate for the first time at the same time

Who the heck was the Jewish Deep South Senator in the 1880s?

The first Jewish communities in America were in the south. Yulee, and Judah are famous southern senators who were Jewish pre-war

To be fair, I think there was only one high-profile Jewish victim of lynching, Leo Frank, and you can't really compare that to what African-Americans experienced over time.

You’re absolutely correct, it’s just the cherry on top

So, because O comes before W in the alphabet, Ossoff is going to be the senior Senator, right? Will he be the youngest senior Senator ever?

He should defer to Warnock since W got more votes.

Also I suppose if there's a recount, Warnock could end up taking office before Ossoff.

Generally speaking, special elections tend to get sworn in before regular ones

I just realized Ossoff is 33. He could honestly serve in the senate for 60 years if Georgia’s trends stay that way

I wouldn't go that far. Sooner or later, coalitions will change and new trends will to emerge.

Well obviously, I just meant he’s in a fairly good position for the next election and is young enough he could stay there for a lifetime
