Seeing Trump lose bit by bit like this is delicious.

I do have to wonder if the lack of retracting is a pride thing.  It does appear so at Fox, as they're already wrong.  They said Trump was only getting 45% of the remaining vote (last night) which is obviously false.

It's a principle of journalism: Stick by your story.

I was unironically already thinking of moving to Georgia, to the metro Atlanta area.

This has genuinely emboldened me to actually do it.

I hope Buzz, Horus, Hammy, and company are ready for me!

The Democrats love to move to areas once they have already turned Blue; but if a fraction of the 4 million Californians who pad their majorities in California moved to Red states, not only would Biden have won in a landslide, but the Democrats would have flipped 8 or 9 Senate seats. Ah well. At least Georgia is purple.

I actually think it's probably worse that I remained calm on election night only to take out my pent-up anger on Floridians LOL. Even though it's pretty clear now that we're gonna win. So stupid and unnecessary.

That all said, I THINK we can all agree that Florida should never again be considered part of a Democrat's path to 270. It should just be written off as a state we hope to win in a landslide at best. There genuinely are brighter hopes for the likes of GA and NC as far as states we can truly flip D permanently.

Florida has 29 electoral votes, and poised to gain more, so it can't be written off entirely.

The way I see it, Biden put an African-American woman on the ticket.

The Democrats spent much of the summer talking about BLM.

They didn't spend much time talking about a $15 minimum wage (which passed in FL) or immigration.

They said Latinos aren't part of their path to victory and suppressed the Hispanic vote.

Meanwhile Trump changed his home state to FL and his team put in the work with Cubans.

If you don't put in the effort, you don't get the result. If you put in the effort, you get a better result. Maybe that should be the lesson Democrats take instead.

If Democrats prioritized African-Americans over Latinos, the results show in their narrow wins in Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Pennsylvania... while the loss in Florida was so wide it would have remained a loss if Biden got Clinton’s numbers with Trump, which he never could. You must consider both sides of the ledger and we have a President-Elect Biden, a Senator Peters, and the slim chance of additional senators from Georgia.

Certainly, but saying "We did the right strategy to narrowly eke out a win in one election" (which I admit JOMD probably did) is not the same as saying "We must abandon Florida/Latinos forever."

We're not always going to be running against Trump and Biden's narrow coalition of a shrinking midwestern Black population, Never Trump WOW Republicans, and the remnants of the WWC who came back for Scranton Joe can certainly be built upon/improved upon.

Ok, then. It doesn't seem like Democrats should try to pursue Florida unless we have specially reason to believe that the conditions of the election favor a Democratic path there. And that has not literally been the case since the 2000 election; it was only the size of Obama's wins that had him carry the state. We recognize it is, dare I say it, fools' gold for Dems.

The Democrats have literally never nominated a Latino candidate for Senator or Governor since the 2000 election, and their congressional delegation has 1 Latino in it, whereas the Republicans have had several. The state Party hasn't been doing a good job at reaching to voters, especially this year.

Edit: If you're going to rec a post that says "screw Florida" then you're not engaging in good faith anyway. So just shut up.

Trump only needs 54% according to Phil Mattingly and he's been getting at least 59% in the last three dumps. His overall averge is about 58%. He's on track in AZ.

In Georgia the military ballots if they go heavily to him can easily overcome the margin of 1,600.

It all comes down to PA and what Kornacki was saying about the 100,000 provisionals continuing to be heavily Republican, as they have so far. If they are, Trump can pull it out.

The Democrats celebrated too early.

The first woman nominee and the first woman to. Win a national election are now both Democrats. I'm relieved they're not Republicans. The highest glass ceiling here we come!

I hate to be that guy, but all this is tinged with some sadness and disappointment that Democrats haven't taken back to Senate. I have great skepticism based on the history of Georgia turnouts that will be able to pull off both runoffs. That means that Biden is going to be absolutely gridlocked for anything and everything he cannot accomplish by executive order. Republicans write down to so-called moderate like Susan Collins know their marching orders and we'll follow them from McConnell to the letter.

And for folks like P Q G and osr who feel relief that somehow they're going to be spared from some Bernie Sanders / AOC lead socialist Revolution with McConnell remaining is Senate Majority Leader, come on. With a 50/50 or even 51-49 send it nothing was going to get passed without the approval of folks like Joe manchin, Krysten Sienma, and Angus King. Anything getting passed would be only slightly to the left of Richard Nixon's domestic agenda for Pete's sake! surely ithat is preferable to Absolute partisan gridlock, no?

This.

This was a Republican year in everything but at the top of the ticket.

America really needs to do a better job at counting votes. I'm not sure why it's gotten so bad, but it seems to be getting worse with every cycle. More resources need to be dedicated to timely counting in time for 2022.

Sad it came to this, but a good result none the less:

Stop posting suppression polls!

I mean, I totally agree Biden won, but the fact that people are still uncritically posting polls after what happened last Tuesday is pretty remarkable.

Maybe this will get Republicans to support mandatory paper ballots and scientifically sampled verification for voting machines.

This won't work but it Will be another brick in the wall delegitimizing Biden that the Republicans are building.
