It should be noted that while the US crime rate has been higher than Europe for decades, it has been falling fast of late:



The US is approaching 1950's level crime rates on some indicators, which would be an all-time low.

At least the Republicans cannot run on the "Black man elected President in 2008, crime went up"-platform next year.
