More lunacy from the state of Texas...

This is close to treason in my opinion.

They already crossed the treason line weeks ago.

So what does this mean exactly? Seems like the exact thing the D hacks here insisted would never ever happen.

Stop dooming about this, the "state legislator coup" was always legally dubious since all states have laws to appoint the electors by popular vote winner, and if it were to be done, it had to be done before the electors actually voted. You can now proceed to doom about fake "dueling electors" and the Electoral Count Act instead.

Everything done by Trump while president is legally dubious, and that has stopped none of it. And I asked a question as on the surface this is what it seems--if you want to cover your ears and pretend nothing is wrong then go find some left wing Fox equivalent.

The vote by the Texas electors is pure grandstanding. They have no right to compel the PA/WI/MI/GA legislatures to do anything. Trump demanded the same thing of these legislatures for week and they didn't do what he asked, and now after the electors already voted the state legislator coup is dead as I and multiple others have pointed out.

If you want to doom, at least doom about something which has a nonzero chance of happening, such as weird Electoral Count Act shenanigans with these illegitimate "dueling electors."

I'm talking about the alternate slate of electors that cast votes, which did in fact happen.

That's not what the Texas electors are talking about here. The "alternate slates of electors" were just the Trump electors meeting and casting votes on their own, without official backing from any state government organ whatsoever. The Texas electors are calling on the swing state legislators to (unconstitutionally) ratify that action retroactively.

I wasn't talking about Texas at all--I know they have no authority, it was the R electors that did in fact vote. But thank you for clearing it up since everybody else wants to be a denialist hack.

Which is all well and good, but if he really wanted a serious discussion he wouldn’t be using phrases like “all you D hacks” regularly when he posts about his anxieties. Being anxious is one thing, but being smugly, consistently anxious is another.

It's because I'm tired of red avatars covering their ears and whining anytime somebody so much as asks a question. I want good posters to answer, not hacks who just give a single word dismissal or "no this is impossible" answer to what I'm asking rather than explaining what's actually going on. People who do that are in fact hacks.

Um, dude, the post you quoted is literally referring to the Texas electors.

I went back and checked my original post, I meant to quote this one.

You don't get to be all pissy and defensive when you're the one who quoted the wrong post. We're not mind readers. Your D hacks comment was specifically in the context of that post.

Considering I made it clear several times about the electors who had cast votes, this seems like just another opportunity for hacks to get pissy with people who don't drink the everything's fine and shall not be questioned koolaid.

Not really.  Can't speak for others,  but I don't have a problem with you dooming.  I think the people responding (me included) legit thought you were talking about Texas. It's ok if you weren't....but then lashing out at them just seems unwarranted to me.

It's more that I'm irritated over the last several months when I did try to ask (rather than assuming a guarantee) on a matter I was worried about (or even when posting more realistic predictions), and had too many experiences of being dismissed or attacked for the mere suggesting these sorts of things in the first place, rather than addressing the matter that was brought up.

But fair enough on this matter.
