For once I actually agree with trump on something

Kentucky congressman Thomas Massie is a fool for doing this stunt to block stimulus bill and forcing House members to head back to DC in middle of a pandemic just for this foolishness

He is putting people lives at risk just for a stunt that he knows full well will not stop the bill from passing. its pointless move that does nothing but put many lives in great danger

look Im have made it clear that Im also not the biggest fan of the stimulus bill but even I think this stunt is both dangerous and reckless. if he goes through with this there will be will be blood on his hands.....

The stimulus bill does nothing to get more supplies out there. Passing this while saying $1bn is too much for ventilators and such is outright murder.

I agree that this bill does not do nearly enough but that does not change the fact that Massie is putting people lives at risk for a bill that he knows will pass anyway

Lives are being put at risk by not bailing out corporations so they can keep their bonuses and their pay raises? When that's being prioritized over doing something about hospital overfill and supply shortages because the system is overwhelmed you can't make the argument this bill is saving any lives--it's saving profit margins and optics and nothing more.

Cell phone tracking data (anonymized) shows how much Miami Beach Spring Break could spread the virus...

Man, I hate Millennials.

Can't say I disagree (despite that being my generation) but this is mostly Gen Z with the spring breakers.

Governor DeSantis is a mass-murderer and must be tried for crimes against humanity.

Him and De Blasio (and I'll go so far as to say Cuomo as well). NYC should've issued a quarantine as soon as this started getting out of hand there instead of letting the schools stay open and Cuomo didn't do a thing to stop it until it was too late--he shares just as much responsibility on this as Trump no matter how much media posturing and as he does.

New Gallup poll has Americans approving of the handling of coronavirus by virtually everyone except the media:

https://news.gallup.com/poll/300680/coronavirus-response-hospitals-rated-best-news-media-worst.aspx

Even Congress gets a 59/37 Approval Shocked

The media is underwater at 44/55.

Interestingly Republicans more approving across the board, except for the media, including institutions such as hospitals and government health agencies. Possibly due to Trump being in power, or perhaps due to the narrative about socialized medicine vs the US system.

Notice the poll is March 13-22--before all hell broke loose and Trump started threatening to open the country back up indefinitely all while telling places hardest hit he wont give them supplies because he doesn't believe them.

As I've stated in previous posts, if what Trump had claimed he'd do at the time had actually been followed, then we would've at least had a half way competent response.

Is the US even keeping track of recoveries at all?

American and UK intelligence knew what was going on China and reported to both Trump and Boris Johnson. So why were their reports not treated more seriously? Why wasn't a pre-emptive strategy and preparation put in place?

The far right line of thought is essentially 'if its bad news its fake and should be ignored' at this point.

Sorry guys, I'll stop clogging up the thread with personal updates.

Nothing wrong with letting everyone know what's going on, it's both relevant to the thread and can keep some here from worrying.

Might I ask, regarding the fatality rate, why we're using deaths per cases (which is rising at a rapid rate at the moment) rather than deaths per cases closed, which puts it at what seems like a more realistic 30-40%?
