Does the mainstream media have a liberal or conservative bias?

With the possible exception of FOX and the murdoch papers, the worldwide news media is fashionable and elitist but not really "liberal" or "conservative" at least in the US defintions of the term.

So yeah I agree when you say it is a false dichotomy. Here I should point out that this is a different perception here between ideology "liberals" or "conservative" and political parties "Democratic" or "Tory" for example; which often clouds people's views on the news media.

Though I laugh whenever anyone claims that the New York Times is uber-liberal.
