Majewski was triaged for less, which is pretty insane. Also pretty insane this didn't come out until after the election.

Well, at the very least, with presidential turnout in 2024, Santos seems like one of the most vulnerable Rs in a Biden seat.

Does someone have NY-03's numbers in Hochul-Zeldin?

I'd love to see their #s in all of the competitive districts tbh

OK yeah, at this point it's clear this man is just at the very least an incredible pathological liar. Not sure what the precedent is, but a normal person would just resign, but we know that's not going to happen. Is there anything leadership can really do though?

If Santos resigns, Democrats better go all in in NY-03

Have to agree with Pollster too - at first my thought too was oh wow even Tulsi is skewering this guy? But I would think it's part of the bigger GOP agenda at work; McCarthy and the GOP forces do not want this guy to be a member, clearly, so they're hoping that he resigns.

You can only imagine the GOP outrage if Santos was a Dem and Pelosi was refraining from any criticism to get his speaker vote in a closely divided House. The GOP is pathetic.

GOP is definitely being held to a different standard. Sure, the press has covered the allegations against Santos and his lies, but there really hasn't been much "Why aren't the GOP telling him to resign?!" type of disarray type comments, while if this was the Dems, every single member - and Pelosi nonstop - would be being asked why he was still in the caucus. As far as I can tell, has McCarthy even been asked about this?

At this point, for Santos this can't even be enjoyable. Even as long as you're in the body, you're a pariah.

The fact that he's lost basically the entire conference, the NY GOP, and other NY House members, I mean at this point.. how do you just not resign. I'm honestly surprised at how quickly even many GOPers coalesced against him.

Yeah... they elected him to serve BEFORE all of this came out and BEFORE they all knew his entire life was a lie. McCarthy is such a little f**ker. So the only way that you should be kicked out of congress is if you were charged with a crime?

Is there a scenario where they could hold a recall?

I understand McCarthy has a paper thin majority and needs Santos' vote, but what will be worse for him? Kicking him out and maybe losing one seat or dealing with Santos for 2 years? I feel like the calculation is clear here, and even the NY GOP have realized that.

What would actually get Santos to resign at this point though? He seems incredibly shameless.

The NY GOP must know more than everyone else because they are trying WAY harder to take him down than anyone else...

You can’t kick out an elected politician because they lied. If you did that, every single politician would be kicked out of office.

That being said, if he broke campaign finance laws, then removal would probably be appropriate.

The level of falsification is key though. Every politician lies. What Santos has done has gone WAY beyond any of that.

Yeah, it's clear that he seems either likely to resign or he knows the walls are closing in and he'll be ousted.

I wonder if theres enough GOPers who would vote for it to get 2/3. You already have 6 of the NY Reps doing it. I don't have faith in the GOP to do the right thing, but I wonder how many they could actually get. None of them owe Santos anything, so why keep him?

Did some Ds vote against it because they want to see him remain in congress, so that he's a continued albatross for Rs or something?  Otherwise I see no way for them to vote no. He's objectively done more than enough to be voted out of congress.
