It's gonna be so weird having these speeches be delivered from living rooms to no audience.

Part of the convention spectacle is the big echo and the crowd roaring, all the reaction shots.

Hopefully it doesn't just feel like a series of YouTube videos.

I'm hoping they'll be at scenic locations with professional camera crews. If not I'll be highly upset.

I still think the strategy was way off. They basically had all the money in the world to send these people to neat places and make these canned videos feel special. Instead, we get the Obama basement.

Why not send her to a national park with a first-rate camera crew? Why not shut down the Statue of Liberty for a day and send Bernie there to deliver his remarks? I know they want to avoid drawing a crowd, but there are plenty of isolated places they could have gone to do something powerful.

This is so flat, and it didn’t have to be that way if they were willing to inject some creativity into the process.

Agreed completely this is a mess. But I will wait for the convention proper to judge.

I have many Death of Stalin memes ready for this if it's bad.

Call me cheesy but the beginning is really great. Loving the tone it sets.

I don't love the transition away from polished video to face cams, but this is important stuff they're showing.

Gwen Moore lighting it up, and I like that she's got a podium and stuff.

I thought Fox was airing it. They are not.

They're very busy with whatever bile Don Jr has to spill out of his mouth

The Mayor of DC didn't impress in my view, but George Floyd's family certainly did.

I understand why they have to have this “police are good, actually” stuff to balance things out, but it feels incredibly tone-deaf.

I thought that Joe was a bit eh on that too, he could have been more decisive.

Clyburn transition was weak but his speech is strong if the oratory skill is lacking.

I have to say I am concerned about the emphasis on African Americans and racial identity politics.  I think it could turn off potential white Midwest voters.

How dare Democrats focus on the justified concerns of their single most dedicated constituency

I really don't like Cuomo but the speech is alright. I'm not looking forward to his 2024 campaign.

I see it's taken several decades, but Bernie has finally got his hair in order.

Any bets on which of the 29 candidates won't feature?

So far we've had Booker, Gillibrand, Harris, Inslee, Klobuchar, Moulton, O'Rourke, Steyer and Yang. Buttigieg and Sanders are scheduled.

I would wager they won't be calling my mayor, but hopefully I'm wrong.

Surely not...a New Yorker who likes DeBlasio?

I'll admit his political instinct is garbage, but he's accomplished a lot that NYC has desperately needed. And I feel he's unfairly scapegoated quite a bit.

I agree somewhat. I don't hate him, he's gotten a lot of good stuff done. But I do have many problems with him as well.
