Here's what's probably going to happen:

Despite increasing calls for his resignation by NJ politicians, Menendez stays put, repeatedly insisting that he did nothing wrong and that attempts to force him out are a witch hunt. He continues to do this until the indictment phases out of the news cycle. Eventually, the news stops talking about his legal troubles, and Menendez still doesn't resign. He runs for reelection, wins the primary, but needlessly endangers the general election for Democrats like the selfish man he is.

I'm not terribly surprised by this. Unless Menendez is the nominee, there's no point in any serious GOP candidate running.
