One of the most interesting questions in this poll almost 50% of voters think Joe Biden is too liberal and almost 50% of voters think Trump is about as conservative as they would like. In fact, 70% of texas voters believe Trump is either conservative enough or not conservative enough. Only 30% believe he is too conservative.
Results like this make me really think a lot of the anti-Trump vitriol in the suburbs and in places like texas is an identity politics thing. I question whether that will last forever, especially once Trump is gone.
If the GOP nominates a Nikki Haley type figure... poll results like this make me think a lot of these subrubanites, who still appear to hold conservative values, will vote for the GOP again.
This is what makes me think that the Texas GOP will hold up better downballot than people on here are expecting. Sure, they'll probably lose TX-23, and at least one of TX-22 and TX-24, but I doubt Democrats will take the state House or pick up more than 3-4 congressional seats. These people may not like Trump, but will still happily vote for their GOP State Rep.
