Quote
"The last two decades have been kind of exceptional," said Carl Watras, a climate scientist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Water levels have been declining since 1998, Watras told Live Science. "Our lakes have never been lower than they are."

The research was published Jan. 21 in the journal Geophysical Research Letters.

When do the Republicans continue to support a demented old man who cannot do the job?

Oh, right, because while he may be a deranged fool, he publicly champions what Republicans love: bigotry, corruption, and white supremacy.
That is a study related mostly to lakes in Wisconsin, not the Great Lakes.

Either way, it is from 2014 and things have really turned around.  Lakes Superior and Erie will challenge record high water levels this summer.  Superior has been at records for the time of year so far in 2019.  There were periods of low water in the 1920s, 1950s/60s and 1998-2013.

The levels have continued to stay very high after the end of that graph.  The 2018 July level was 602.61’.

So when Trump said what he said, this is what he was referring to.
