No, even if he is found guilty in a court of law. He will, at worst, be placed under house arrest.

No, arresting former presidents is a bad idea and not in the interest of national unity.

Is your position that former presidents should be completely above the law? If Trump killed his wife, should he not be arrested?

It’s a difficult balance between holding people accountable and not pissing off too many supporters.  If Trump were arrested there would almost certainly be civil unrest.

We don't negotiate with terrorists.

The logical conclusion of your argument is that Trump could go on a mass shooting spree, killing dozens of people every day, and we shouldn't do anything about it because his freak supporters would react violently.

Someone should not be above the law just because they're popular among a violent group of people.

That's one of the most revolting things I've ever heard.

Don’t you think Bush/Cheney should be in prison too for what they did . If so your position would clearly undermine our FP and that would be bad because of Bush deserves to be in prison so would most of our presidents since 1945.

No. What Bush and Cheney did is significantly worse than anything the other Presidents did. But that's besides the point, "you'd have to arrest all the Presidents, so they must be above the law" is a stupid argument.

Just accept that you want a king, not a president.

I don’t think that’s a logical conclusion at all.  Trump killing his wife or going on a mass shooting is quite a bit different than any political related crimes he’s being charged with.

Is it? I'm not sure how you could argue that his supporters would treat those two instances differently.

Pretty shocked at how lopsided the poll results are so far. It's not sustainable to just let crime lords skate by on felonies because they won an election (with the aid of solicited foreign interference). It would be a severe net negative in the long-term to ignore the need for justice here. What are we waiting for, the next coup attempt by him or other fascists to succeed?

The question was not "SHOULD Trump go to prison" it was "WILL he". Massive difference.

In a just world, Trump would spend the rest of his life in maximum security prison. But we don't live in a just world.
