In order to have Dr. Paul as a serious contender, you'd have to have a significant amount of Republicans drop their militarism and authoritarian ways, which is very unlikely.

He won CPAC, which is a good start. I know that I should know better than to be optimistic about the Republican Party, but with Romney and Palin as his main opponents there is plenty of room for growth.

Based on the PPP poll from a couple months ago, assuming the election were today:


Although Paul would have serious room for improvement given Obama's declining numbers and greater exposure to Paul.
