I hope Abdul El-Sayed wins the primary. I like his platform, though I wouldn't be upset if Whitmer won. Everyone claiming he will lose in the fall sounds ignorant. People of color are tired of being told to wait. If Democrats and D-leaning Independents voters don't embrace him because of his religion that's their fault and they will suffer for it.

Didn't El Sayed have residency issues? That's the biggest problem with him, not his name.
dismissed by the electoral board, and the MISC has implied that they believe hes eligible to run.

Whitmer up big in the Detroit metro, minus Washtenaw County.
less than 1000 votes so far in Detroit, need more votes.

What happens if the MI 13th special candidate is different than the regular 13th candidate?

TBH, both Whitmer and Abdul were pretty left, would have preferred Abdul though. More interested in the house races, hoping Tlaib can pull a win!

If anyone's wondering, Jones is winning both the primary and special primary in MI13, but Tlaib is closer in the special than the general.
Opposite, Tlaib is closer in the general than the special

The Republican KS-Gov map is a total mess.   There is no correlation to any counties.  Even Johnson and Wyandotte are voting differently.
Its Trump vs KS. Who will win?

Whitmer is probably to the left of every other Democrat nominated for Governor so far this year except for Ben Jealous. That's the silliest part.
Even to the left of Abrams?
Abrams is actually pretty centrist, so yeah.

Don't look now, but the "safe R" seat of WA-03 is looking extremely competitive at the moment.

If Tlaib wins, then this night will be a victory for progressives.

WOAH. CMR only beating the Democrat by 0.4 in WA-05...

FOR GOD'S SAKE

STOP WITH THE PRIMARY TURNOUT OBSESSION

ESPECIALLY IN SEATS WITH INCUMBENTS

The CA/WA top-two, high-turnout primaries are actually useful as a sort of large scale "poll" when you add up the Dem and Repub votes.  Certainly things can change by election day, but it's information worth paying attention to.

Also, I am legitimately surprised at the number of Democrats celebrating pretty much a Sarsour clone getting elected to Congress.
whats wrong with that?

Yes, and?

You legitimately think Linda Sarsour is a good future for the Democratic party?
1 Rep out of the likely 200+ Dems in 2018 wont make a difference. The election of Lamb didnt force the Dems to the center, nor did the election of AOC force them left.

No, but this has an impact. My father, for example, would be less likely to vote Democratic after this.
Because a muslim woman won the seat, and because she as pro-Palestinian views? Ill be honest, thats a bit weird that your dad, or any other voter for that matter, would not vote for a D rep or senator because that one from MI is against Israel, sort of.

Also, when you mentioned her, I had to actually look her up, and Im very active in politics and this forum.

Dems outvoting Republicans 56-43 in MO-02. Caveats about primary turnout, but that seems very strong for Democrats in a seat like MO-02.

yes ahahahah!!

We are going to defeat Ann Wagner!!!!!!!
It would be hilarious if she gave up a likely win in the senate race only to be beaten in a midterm wave by "playing it safe". But this is just a primary, so I wouldnt put too much stock into it

My family are atheists. He doesn't like pro-religion candidates and would prefer the Democrats remain secular.
I really hate to break it to ya, but shes not advocating for Sharia Law. In fact, I have never heard, in any of her stuff or speeches, her use religion, in any case. Im pretty sure shes just a progressive/DS who happens to be muslim. Like Ellison, both are semi-religious, but dont inject it into politics. And trust me, even if they were, the R party is still quoting bible scripture and using Jesus for every argument, so its a pretty stark choice.

I don't know about Tlaib, but Linda Sarsour has multiple tweets where she basically argues that Sharia Law is actually really progressive.
I didnt even know who she was before this conversation, and Sarsour was not elected. In the case of Tlaib, she is atheist when it comes to policy.
