Is there a consensus on the R nominee?

Former Rep. Ryan Costello is making noise about running, but probably won't get through the primary. Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick and Guy Reschenthaler are probably going to run, with Reschenthaler starting as the favorite in the primary.

I don't see Fitzpatrick and Costello both running. There's also the possibility for a hardcore Trumpy candidate like Kelly, Perry or Mastriano.

accept the inevitability of don jr

Fetterman has released a short response to recent talk of the gun incident.

He disputes the fact that he knew of the man's race, while claiming that he maintained 15 feet of distance between him and the man and never pointed the gun at anyone. If he's being truthful, which I see no real reason to doubt, this is probably a non-issue.

Well, I appreciate him releasing a statement and this seems like a better response than what he has said in the past, but it still feels a little...phoned in? I guess? I mean, how hard is it really to just say "I made a snap decision where I believe my intentions were pure, but it was the wrong decision. I regret it and I apologize if I made this innocent man feel unsafe or targeted." I still support him, but he can't just expect this to go away just by saying "this has never caught on when anyone else has tried to use it against me."

On the "innocent man" point, it must be noted that the guy in question is currently serving a prison sentence for kidnapping for ransom, terroristic threats, and reckless endangerment. Now, that was from a completely unrelated incident and clearly does not justify Fetterman's actions, but it does kind of change the optics of how apologizing to the guy would look.

Gonna go out on a limb and say a lot of the Cartwright support comes from people who haven't heard the man speak. Great rep, but not exactly bursting with charisma. Fetterman and Kenyatta, particularly Fetterman, would be better options.

Frankly, Oz's campaign thus far is making him look like a complete loser. And voters don't like losers.

Angry

my god oz is so bad at this

I think the fact that Oz is so susceptible to these easy dunks is less of a decisive factor in itself and more of a sign that the people running his campaign have deeply, deeply questionable political instincts and don't exactly know how to project a good image to the public

Oh boy, this isn't going according to plan. We have two avant-garde candidates who have no semblance of how to run a campaign. Fetterman is running memes while Oz is just being the Wizard Oz. It's anyone's guess who wins this one, but I'd say the winner will get under 50.

It really boggles my mind that people are looking at Fetterman's Twitter memes and thinking "wow this clearly must be all he's doing! there's no way that he's combining a savvy social media presence with effective TV advertising and a strong public persona through multiple forms of media!"

Wild fact I just learned: if Fetterman wins, it'll only be the third time since the birth of the Republican Party that PA has been represented by two Democrats. There was one short stretch from 1945-1947 and an even shorter stretch when Arlen Specter switched parties, and that's it. Potential history in the making here!

All the "Fetterman can't win a race off Twitter dunks alone, nyuk nyuk nyuk" people aren't paying attention. His campaign is firing on all cylinders.
