The people concern trolling about Warren’s having been a Republican 30 years ago are gonna freak when they hear about Brown v. Plata and Harris’s attitude towards pot.
That y’all can’t see the irony in White people telling Black people on this forum that Warren (who pretended to be a woman of color for decades and supported the GOP during the War on Drugs and AIDS crisis) has done more for us than any other politician is peak Atlas.
Pure comedy. 😂

That you can’t see that Black people aren’t even pulling for Harris is even more ironic. She didn’t catch on in the primary and she isn’t blowing the rest of the potential VP picks out of the water among blacks in polls for a reason. Yeah she has a black/brown face, but Warren has actually fought for black/brown causes and not locked people up for marijuana possession.
I'm not here to argue or anything. Frankly, we're just talking in circles and I just want Biden to hurry up and make his decision so that everyone in this thread can STFU.

However, I'll just address this point (in bold). Recreational marijuana wasn't legalized in California until Prop. 64 was passed in November 2016 simultaneously as Kamala was elected to the Senate. Marijuana convictions actually dropped significantly under her tenure as AG. Finally, as a State Attorney General, Kamala would not have personally prosecuted marijuana cases. Those cases would have been handled by lower-level state attorneys.

Anyways, I'll go back to lurking this thread. *ducks*

Also don't wanna argue anymore, but to be fair, she would've personally done so when she was San Francisco's DA.

*also ducks because I'm also tired of all this BS*
She did but recreational marijuana was illegal in California at the time she was DA in San Francisco. She was just doing her job. Lawyers who worked in her office stated that most defendants for low-level possession were not sent to prison, consistent with the city and county's law enforcement priorities.

Also, to be honest, it has only been within the past 10 years that most Americans have come to support legalizing recreational marijuana.

Anyways *ducks*

Meh. When I'm 50, AOC will be finishing the touches on her library.

The #RoseTwitter AU Fanfic Library?  Because she's certainly not gonna get anywhere near the WH in this universe Tongue

You'll probably have to wait 25-30 years after the boomers have their moment in the sun, but AOC will be President.

Depending how everything plays out, AOC could run in 2024 but I don't think that would be the smart play. She should look at getting one of the U.S. Senator seats in New York as rumors of them possibly drawing her out of the House swirl, which would be a major political blunder by establishment Democrats. But I think AOC 2032 is probably the time to strike especially if she moves up the ranks in Government.

Schumer's seat is hers. Just a matter of time.
AOC is not going to win any statewide or U.S. Senate election anytime soon. She would get obliterated in the primary outside of NYC. Also, even within NYC, she would definitely be in a battle to win NYC's vote in the primary if she were to run for the Senate in 2024 or 2028.

Yeah, Rice makes no sense.

POLITICO: ‘She is absolutely our No. 1 draft pick’: GOP pines for Rice as Biden VP'

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/08/05/republicans-susan-rice-vice-president-391480

She doesn't make sense in the "do no harm" aspect

Harris or Rice is elitism at its finest. Neither will help win s*** in the Senate but I guess some lobbyists will be very happy. Dems going in this direction should give the GOP a large opening once they get past Trump.
No VP pick was going to help with the Senate. Stop being stupid.

Endorsements don’t usually make that much of a difference (though it can be argued that Biden is the nominee rn *because* of the endorsements of Beto, Pete, and Amy right before Super Tuesday).

BUT, the biggest part of Kampala’s allies’ arguments for her to be VP is that she’d have a special connection to black voters (especially southern black women) and would make them turn out at higher levels to vote for Biden.

If her endorsement couldn’t even help an entrenched black incumbent in a majority black district hold on to his seat against a no-name when her endorsement was an integral part of his campaign, it does call into question that “strength” she has with black voters.
Most of the voters in MO-01 probably didn't even know that Kamala endorsed Lacy Clay. Also, Kamala endorsed Kim Gardner and she won her primary race. What about that?

This is just grasping at straws. Endorsements don't matter much in recent times (excluding presidential primaries).

Tangentially related question, has Atlas ever done a demographics survey?

Yes. Young, white, male, and disproportionately LGBT+.
Well, I am a young male. However, I'm not White nor a member of the LGBT community.

Whitmer really is doubling down on the suburbs if Biden selects her but I would argue it’s a pretty sound strategy. She’ll have much more appeal where the flips are compared to Coastal Rice and Harris.
Can we drop the right wing "coastal elites" nonsense. It comes off as if you're saying uppity. I never hear the same about Elizabeth.

I’ve heard that a ton with Warren lmao

Shhhhh. Only Harris gets criticisms in this thread. So unfair!

It is a good point. Harris is one of the most liberal members of the Senate and she’s from Oakland, CA. Doesn’t exactly connect well with voters in MI,PA,WI. Not saying she’s a bad pick and obviously it will have very little effect but the whole “coastal elite” thing is grounded in reality, it’s sad and I wish democrats could do more to change that perception, since the GOP is the true party of the elites.
This can't be true, Kamala is actually a right-wing fascist because she was a cop.

I like Gretchen Whitmer but the optics of her ditching her state in midst of the worst pandemic in 100 years and having the ticket being all-white is not the best look in 2020, in my opinion.

She would make a great VP for Kamala in 2024 though lol.

I figured the “you” was obviously a joke but he might’ve been serious about having made a decision
See the above posts lol. Biden's national press secretary confirms that Biden was 100% joking.

I have a feeling that it will be Susan Rice even though I support Kamala. Biden will confide in his closest advisers (his wife Jill & his sister Valerie).

Jill apparently is still hesitant about Kamala because of the debates last year and Valerie doesn't like Kamala at all. Biden's team likes Susan Rice and so do Jill & Valerie. Also, Joe might not want to be "outshined" by his VP. It sucks but it is what is.

I think that Susan Rice is one of the worst possible VP picks but ultimately it's up to Joe. It's his decision alone and there's nothing any of us can do about it.

Biden signals Al Gore is the pick:

When did Gore become a woman?

Well, the way things are going on the left it wouldn't surprise me. Wink She would probably be a better vice president then most of the choices within my opinion. lol

You literally just made all of this up???
No, I didn't. I'm going based off of articles that have come out in the past month.

Of course, I hope that those articles are wrong or just baseless speculation. However, even though I support Kamala, it does seem like some in Bidenworld don't like her for various reasons (largely superficial).

What are Susan Rice's domestic policies? Her foreign policy is large bad.

Also, how would she work with Congress? She probably has only a surface level understanding of Congress just like most Americans. How would be stand up to or bring Republicans to the table?

Why didn't they come out in support of Kamala in the primaries then? Most of the people who signed this were either silent or bashing Kamala. Now, Kamala is OK, lol?

Welp, I guess today’s the day the primary campaign against VP Harris starts and I’m 100% behind whoever decides to challenge her (AOC)

nah, doubt AOC challenges her. She's gonna built rapport with the party, take Schumer's seat when he retires, and then run in 2028/2032.
Not happening.

Lol. Your takeaway from 2020, when a former VP swept their left-wing opponent, is to run someone even more left against an even stronger VP?
Welp, I guess today’s the day the primary campaign against VP Harris starts and I’m 100% behind whoever decides to challenge her (AOC)
Pathetic.

You both can complain all you want, but Kamala Harris has already been proven to be a weak Presidential candidate.

Joe Biden didn’t win because he’s a strong candidate or ran a strong campaign (we all know he didn’t in the primary), he won because a consortium in the party (black voters, old people, and moderates) saw everyone else as too risky for racist/sexist America and put beating Trump above all else.

But when it came to the issues like M4A, student debt cancellation, etc. the party voters were pretty firmly with Bernie/Warren. Bernie’s campaign was full of idiots who antagonized the rest of the party and Warren was blocked from bridging the divide by having Bernie suck up the left wing vote.

AOC has proven she can be trusted by the establishment wing with the respect she’s earned from Schumer & Pelosi and falling in line behind Biden, while retaining her lefty cred by endorsing Bernie.
You think that center-left and moderate Democrats are just going to disappear in 4 years? That's the only way AOC would win a presidential primary lol.
