We have Romney, Murkowski and Collins, but it doesn't surprise me, the whole Stimulus deal is to get people to vote, most people haven't gotten their 600, and some people have. Stimulus checks are a sham

Time for Hawley to put his money where his mouth is.

I mean Hawley still supports it but if Manchin won't support it you still need 60 votes. Manchin isn't overturning the filibuster to pass legislation he opposes.

Reconciliation allows the Majority to pass monetary policy without the Filibuster

If Manchin won't even support a $2k stimulus, there's zero chance DC statehood is happening.

this presumes every Republican would vote no.  I am not sure that's the case.

No GOPer will support DC statehood. I am 100% sure of that.

D's have 2022 midterms to prove on their numbers in a blue map Senate cycle

Manchin is so bad. Cue AOC laser beam eyes.

I'm sure 80% of people in West Virginia would support $2k stimulus checks. Who the hell are these people representing?
.

We haven't all received our 600 or tax refunds, it's not like it's gonna pass immediately anyways, it's a selling point just like donations to get you to vote

Are people seriously pretending that giving $2k to literally everyone is better than targeting support to people who lost their jobs?

To my knowledge the full 2k checks don't go to everyone, so this a mute point.

I'm fine with giving it to everyone as long as it's clawed back next year through the tax system.

It should go to anyone who had income loss as a result of the pandemic (if that isn't the case already?). In this case, 2k is even the bare minimum. With 24 trillion in debt, money should only be given to those in need.

The SSA and FICA RAXES that we pay into the system regardless if you lose your job or not is already given to the Govt.  The Stimulus monies and our tax refunds comes directly from the SSA trust fund, that Rs gave oil subsidizies huge tax cuts in 2017, every Stimulus money are already taxes we paid into system already
