Just discovered this website a week ago. Making first post!
How is that the Democrats have full control of the redistricting process in Maryland when the State Supreme Court is a Republican majority? Couldn't the court just overturn an extreme 8-0 Democratic Gerrymander and replace it with a balanced 5-2-1 like the liberal state supreme courts did in Florida and Pennsylvania to GOP gerrymanders?

Because the heavily dem Maryland senate has to approve any judge. They won't approve any partisan so the judges tend to be moderate technocrats.
Very different from the partisan elected judges in PA. Maryland doesn't have the fair redistricting amendment that FL has.
