The majority of the caucus are just getting even more pissed off. They had their pick derailed twice by a small minority of hostage takers. That behaviour encourages rebellion, not unity.

to be fair the Jordan v Scalise vote was extremely close so you could argue that this one wasn't a "small minority"

proposal: do a random lottery of all voting age people in the country, whoever is picked gets a week long crash course in how this works and then is agreed upon unanimously as a nonpartisan speaker
