The Baltimore Sun was recently purchased by David D. Smith, the executive of Sinclair Broadcast Group. It's starting to come to light that Sheila Dixon's campaign is largely being bankrolled by Smith, with his news stations already platforming her with constant town halls and interviews. Smith is also financially supporting her to the tune of $100K.

that's some Gilded Era type stuff there.

Fox45 (Sinclair) held a town hall with Dixon only to cut off the live stream after the first question was from an activist who confronted Dixon over her embezzlement conviction.

Only making the gilded era comparison even stronger.

David Smith’s efforts to reshape the city goes even further.

Easier to buy a majority of the council if it's smaller, I assume.

Scott now has a solid lead, 50.6 to 40.9

I have to assume the bridge collapse and his response to it helped Scott here, though probably not enough to be the deciding factor? Certainly a strong showing either way considering the massive media backing of Dixon by Smith and Sinclair in general.
