I can see a lot of indies approving of him as a knee-jerk reaction to this crisis. But once they feel the crisis and the economy tanks they will disapprove of him again. Hopefully.

Not only is this rally-around-the-flag quite weak, but many of the people "rallying" might still vote against him in November even if they approve of his performance now.

Much of the uptick in support for Trump on Coronavirus comes from self-identified Democrats and independents.  This is very soft and if this crisis turns out to be as bad as it looks, this support will drop rapidly.  He'll have his 42-43% with him forever.

This is my suspicion. And those Dems sure as hell won't vote for him.

Trump's approval rating is surging, according to the latest Gallup poll. He's now at his highest point ever.

Seriously? Based on one poll?

He is up 3 points in the latest WaPo poll. Despite claims his bounce faded, it really hasn't entirely. He is consistently trending up in a long term perspective.

No.  You're just wrong.  Go look at this chart: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/

That shows him at -9.5, whereas just before his bounce he was at -10.9. Yes it goes up and down, but his peaks keep getting higher and his valleys not as low.

The award for spinning bad news goes to...!

I have a hard time seeing Biden lose states where he has a positive fav rating and Trump is in the dumps with double digit negative approval ratings.

Reading this forum, you would think Donald Trump's approval ratings were at a steady 21%. I remember when Bush's got down that low in 2008. Now that was a bad approval rating.

So because Bush's were worse, mostly because he was unable to form his own devoted base of Republicans, that somehow means that Trump's approval ratings are good?

Because the country was in worse shape in 2008 than today.

Wrong.  2020 is much worse than 2008, in a variety of ways.

Oh please. I got three nieces and nephews going back to school, a mom with a new job and promotion last month, and a sister that just bought a house.

Compare that to the war, the housing crisis and the recession, this is nothing.

150k dead and cases spiking, mass evictions possibly on the horizon, GDP collapsing worse than in 2008. You are, and I say this as an observation not necessarily an insult, delusional. Your family does not represent whats a dark reality for tens of millions of people in America.
