Fun Fact about Vermont: Vermont was one of only two states that didn't give its electoral votes to President Frankilin D. Roosevelt in 1936 (D-NY). That year was the first time he ran for re-election and he was unbelieveably popular almost everywhere. Vermont still chose to vote for Republican candidate Alfred M. Landon. (The other state was Maine.)

People forget that Vermont used to be one of the most Republican states in the country. I remember in 1912 Taft only carried Vermont and Utah.

It's true that Vermont used to be one of the most Republican states, but it has always been a very liberal state, and many Republicans there are now RINOs.

It was liberal on social issues. It wasn't liberal on economic issues until fairly recently.
