I think he would make a perfect independent candidate or running mate to someone like Lou Dobbs. He is one of the verry few democrats I am found of.

He's to conservative to win in the democratic primary, thats why he should run as an independent. What is really screwed up is that the primaries are decided by extremist in each party, so the majority in the centre is left out. I encourage all independents and moderates to vote in the primaries. For example candidates like Warner or Guliani could win by a lanslide in the runoff, but the primary nomination will probably go to someone like Clinton, or Gore, or Allen, or Frist.

Option 2. Nelson would be an excellent President, but as a third party candidate, he'd be a spoiler.
As a conservative leaning democrats, which side would he act as a spoiler? I think he could appeal to both sides.
