It is definitely time to start planning to bring back the sports. Good idea, Don, couldn't last much longer like this. Let's just get the new schedules in place.

This guy is such an incredibly idiotic fool, unbelievable ...

Some people on Atlas are underestimating how much live sports would be a morale boost for tens of millions of people.  Being able to watch sports every day would take my pain level in this from a 9/10 to a 6.5/10 just like that.

Hopefully they can figure out a strategy to bring back sports, even without crowds.

China and we in Europe also survive months without watching sports.

It’s not that hard.

Sports players spread the virus around, as would people in stadiums.

Nobody needs fukking football or baseball this year !

Only +2% new cases here in Austria since yesterday.

(I’m posting here today because I’m banned from the international thread today.)

People in intensive care units (ICUs) not rising any longer and stable at 245.

Hopefully it stays that way ...

To our posters who have gotten this virus (TSA, PQG, maybe someone else), are you feeling any better?

Yes.

Much better. During the start of the week, I felt a chest pain - like a large animal (an overweight cat 🐈 or something) sitting on it. Or pieces of glass inside my lungs.

The next day I had a slight fever 🤒 and some light coughing. The chest pain eventually got worse and the breathing more heavy, but I used a magical Thai ointment that I got a few years back and put it on my chest. It helped a lot.

Too pessimistic.

People will get other jobs again, or ... if their former companies did not go broke - they will get hired again.

The US has roughly 8.000 to 9.000 deaths per day in a regular March or April.

So, Coronavirus now accounts for ca. 1/4 of daily deaths there (vs. 1/10th in Austria).

From an Austrian newspaper:

Quote
"GREAT NATION" tumbling

Corona and the moment of truth for the United States

From the forklift to the mortuary: Terrible pictures from New York that evoke memories of medieval conditions in Europe when the plague raged. The US metropolis does not master the corona plague and has to dig emergency graves. (Image: AP)

Corpses on forklifts, mass graves in excavated pits: how could it get this far in the United States?

The corona pandemic exposes US weaknesses that would otherwise be outshone by the country's praises as a global powerhouse. This is not without consequences. Donald Trump likes to call the United States the “greatest country” in the world.

The largest, greatest, best nation with the strongest economy, military superiority, the smartest minds and superiority in virtually every area. The US president generally has a penchant for superlatives. But other Americans also tend to exuberance when it comes to their own country.

However, more than ever, the corona pandemic brutally exposes deficits in the “land of unlimited opportunities”.

(...)

Millions Without Health Insurance: A Significant Part of US Society Is Not Health Insurance. According to a November census, around 27.5 million Americans had no health insurance in 2018 - 8.5 percent of the population. Many of the millions who lost their jobs due to the Corona crisis in the past few weeks are now adding because they are also losing their health insurance.

A sick health system: Health costs in the US are higher than in many other countries in the world. Simple visits to the doctor quickly cost hundreds of dollars, visits to the hospital astronomical amounts, and medication is sometimes many times more expensive than elsewhere. Paying for treatment for the coronavirus yourself, possibly with a longer hospital stay, can plunge people into a financial disaster without reserves.

Life from paycheck to paycheck: The US Federal Reserve reported last May that about 40 percent of Americans either couldn't cope with an unexpected $ 400 expense or would have to borrow money or even sell property to do so. That means that a broken washing machine or damage to the car is a major financial problem for many Americans in normal times. In the corona crisis, which is killing many jobs, the problem is exacerbated because many simply do not have the savings to make up for lost wages.

Story continues ...

In sort of a spillover from America, 500 people assembled today in the center Berlin to protest the still ongoing lockdown in Germany. A few of the protestors reportedly wore "Trump 2020" shirts, others identified themselves to journalists as QAnon believers or opponents of "vaccination terrorism".

Coughing and spitting into a police officer's face is a crime.

WTF ?

How selfish can you be ?

Apparently, the Trump scum thinks a virus only affects themselves and nobody else.

Those Trumptards with their guns, rifles and machine guns on the steps of the MI state capitol should be arrested for violating the law, for not wearing masks and for endangering others with their stupid actions. But before that ... they should be hosed down by a water cannon truck.
