I'm thinking about buying this 1500$ telescope (I want to renew my previous interest in astronomy):

For those who already are into astronomy and owners of a solid telescope, what do you think about this model ?

Thx.

The real question is, will you be observing celestial bodies in the sky or through bedroom windows?

I said astronomy, not peeping tom-my ...

I knowwww but this was irresistible. Honestly I have no idea about this, but I've always been fascinated. Isn't that a lot of money to spend if you're just getting back into it? Why not start smaller?

Because I want something with a good quality, where I can watch planets like Mars or Jupiter or the moon with a high amplification/resolution.

With a 300€ telescope you won't get that.

The opinion depends on what your primary uses will be. Are you more interested in planets or deep sky objects? Are you planning on doing a lot of astrophotography or just visual observation? Do you expect to move it much to go to different locations?

First planets, later deep-sky objects (if I can figure out how to properly put in the coordinates to find and watch them).

First observation of course, then also photographing them (it seems you can put your smartphone on these new telescopes and take pictures with it).

I will place the telescope on the balcony of my apartment for watching. The balcony is virtually going all around my apartment, which allows me to have more than a 270° view of the sky.

For starting, I will visit an astronomy course for starters at one of Austria's planetariums (which happens to be in my district at the Wald-Königsleiten ski resort):
