Seriously, anyone who thinks that a candidate who ran behind Biden in an area where downballot Democrats usually run ahead of Presidential numbers, and sometimes by a lot, is somehow their most electable choice is truly dumb.

He ran behind Biden by, like, .2%, which is statistically insignificant.
Given the political profile of PA-17 being such that downballot Democrats typically run ahead of Presidential totals, and sometimes by a lot; even a small overperformance by a Democrat there would be a big red flag as to their electability in a statewide race, let alone an underperformance.

If one subscribes to the belief that Conor Lamb is a strong candidate, I struggle to see how one can also argue that Sean Parnell isn't at least average.

Lamb's saving grace for underperforming Biden is that he did it by less than most House Democrats, but even then, he benefited from lagging trends.

I agree with this. Additionally, a scenario where the national environment isn't on the Democrats' side (likely in 2022) could easily put Parnell over the top based on his 2020 performance.

Based on his performance in one district. OK.
He outran Trump in a District where downballot Republicans typically run behind Presidential totals, and sometimes by a lot.

To be honest, its been very clear from the very beginning that Lamb has been running for US Senate out of sheer spite, and has not been running a serious campaign.

Seriously, Atlas. A US House member representing a District with strong downballot Democratic leanings who underperformed Biden while running against a man who would then lose custody of their kids over domestic violence issues is not more electable than a sitting statewide official who was part of a ticket that won statewide in a landslide that was the biggest Dem win in the state in its entire decade. This aint hard.

Has Lamb shifted to right since entering congress in 2018? I feel like opinion of him was fairly positive in 2018 in the aftermath of that special election. If I remember correctly, he was even mentioned as senate, gov or VP material. Now seems like nobody really likes him.
Some people who liked Lamb back then, and who thought he would be a great candidate for higher office back then do not like Lamb anymore because his 2020 re-election margin in his Congressional District was unambiguously pathetic. I myself am among these people.

If Barnette has not endorsed by now, I'd be surprised if she ever did.
Ted Cruz in 2016 waited till September to endorse Donald Trump.
