He is probably going to be the Democratic Mike Castle honestly.

I'm hoping Blackburn trounces Corker in the primary.

So you want an IN-SEN 2012 redux?

Seems unusual coming from you.

I can't imagine Blackburn ever becoming a senator. It's just my hunch. I can see Bredesen winning.

I can also see Corker endorsing Bredesen.

He's supporting and donating to Blackburn

Are you suspecting he is, or has he outright said it?

He outright said it.

At this stage, donating to Blackburn is expected, toeing the party line. The fact that he's speaking so warmly of Bredesen is interesting, especially as he's pretty open about getting on better with Bredesen than Blackburn (a fact that Bredesen has already slipped into fundraising appeals)

It's also angering Team Blackburn as well as the Senate GOP:

The long and short of it is that if Blackburn has an Akin/Mourdock/O'Donnell moment, expect Corker to be the first to switch their endorsements.

I thought O'Donnell was just a bad candidate in general, but never had a single defining moment.

Corker won’t even say Blackburn’s name in this interview with Dana Bash.

No surprise here.... Blackburn is dumb as hell
Corker low key wants Bredeseen to win a and we all know it.
Then why did he donate money to Blackburn?

It would be funny if he gave her something like $5.
I heard that it was a maxed out donation.

I'd personally like to see the Republican wing of the Democratic Party disgraced so I'd vote third party in a match-up between these two Republicans.

The only race so far that I can say for sure that I would vote 3rd party if I lived in the area is the WV-03 Congressional Race where I would vote for whoever the Mountain Party nominates to show my displeasure with Ojeda having endorsed Trump in 2016.

I see Blackburn is leading in a new Gravis Poll.... the thought of Blackburn being elected to the Senate is a bit unsettling.

Sounds like a great idea, actually.

By the way, the first senate debate between Bredesen and Blackburn takes place tonight at 6 pm.

I saw the last half of that, and Bredesen definitely did a good job presenting himself as an independent minded person who would represent the interests of Tennessee rather than his party, in contrast to Blackburn.  Blackburn is an attractive woman though and I think Bredesen going too negative against her could backfire.   And Bredesen's support for abortion could sink him, but I don't know if Blackburn is making that an issue in the campaign.
Doug Jones was unapologetically pro-choice, and he won.  Tennessee has two major urban cores (Nashville and Memphis) that are much more populous than Alabama's major urban core (Birmingam).

Jones only won because he was able to gain majority support outside Birmingham (which Hillary Clinton won) and ran the board with cities Huntsville, Mobile, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, and Auburn. Bredesen would have to run the board with places like Knoxville, Chattanooga, Clarksville, and Murfreesboro.

In fact, the main reason why Jones won is because Moore was a pedophile.

This is the most annoying, constantly propagated myth of that campaign. Multiple people on the Jones campaign have said that the allegations didn't budge their internal numbers, while Trump's rally in the Panhandle shifted the race a few points towards Moore.

I think we should throw the Jones internal numbers that showed no effect on the polls when the allegations surfaced into the average. Other polls did show substantial effect on the race when the allegations surfaced. Put it together, and it likely had a smaller effect than that some of the most swingy polls displayed, but still a real effect.

Honestly, there's an upside to Bredesen losing big as it seems he will. It's a great lesson for """MODERATE""" Smiley Smiley Smiley democrats who think they can win by acting like Republicans, that they're gonna pay a price for it. The base will only stick with you up to a point.

They would surely not have won with a Bernie Sanders like candidate either in Tennessee.

People aren’t generally calling for a Bernie Sanders type candiate.

It always annoys me when people call out moderates such as Bredesen as being useless politicians, only to be told ‘oh so you want Sanders people running then’.

It’s not Bredesen ideology that annoys me- it’s his lack of political courage, and his complete lack of authenticity

Yeah, there’s a reason everyone hated Evan Bayh, but you never really hear the base complaining about Joe Donnelly.

I was never into the Evan Bayh hype during his 2016 Senate race personally. I thought that he was going to lose throughout every part of the cycle.
