Zeta just blasted through and killed my power. When I was young, the upstate never got hurricanes, now its like a yearly occurrence.
I was woken up about 5 am by the wind absolutely roaring outside and things bouncing off my house. It stayed like that for a couple of hours and then gradually settled down, then everything moved out and it turned into a nice day by mid-afternoon. When it got light enough this morning, I checked outside and everywhere is covered with leaves, pine needles, and small branches, plus a few very large branches.
My power stayed up the whole time (although it was flickering), which surprised me because this area is full of tall trees. At one point this morning, over a million people in metro Atlanta were without power, and many thousands are still out.
Well the grid around here is just awful and can't stand up to anything it would seem.
