Mr. Attorney General,
I would like to request that you order the Department of Justice to enforce the provision of federal law stating that "Except in an emergency, intercity and commuter rail passenger transportation provided by or for Amtrak has preference over freight transportation in using a rail line, junction, or crossing."
(Source). The lack of enforcement of this law has lead to chronic delays on Amtrak, soiling the reputation of passenger rail in the minds of many Atlasians. In the interests of promoting the highly efficient and environmentally friendly option of rail travel, I hope to see this issue resolved.
