I can’t tell what’s sadder; people in this thread thinking 'Hell' and 'Satan' are actually real things that people should be concerned about, or BRTD - a 37 year old man - being eager to join a Christian mosh pit.

Write-in third option: Thinking shoes are uniquely immoral and ungodly while being a frequent customer at various strip clubs while not being self aware enough about one's self and one's own religion to see the irony.

Lil Nas X

He’s going to burn in Hell and I’m not ashamed to say it.

If that's true, then God is an idiot. Guess I'm headed that way myself. Cheers!

Burn in Hell, see if I care

If such an implausible scenario ever occurs, I don't think you'll register on my list of concerns.

"See if I care!", says the person who has posted in the thread 10 times...

In his defense, I don't think he implied he doesn't care about the great atrocity of these sneakers. It's simply the fate of my soul which leaves him unconcerned. I can't fault him for that though--I did have the audacity to question his interpretation of God's morality.

Gov. Noem is in the right on this issue, and I give major props to BRTD for standing up for her in this thread against the waves of people attacking him for actually caring. Yeah, satanic shoes aren't the most pressing issue in the world. Still, nobody should be in the business of normalizing or rehabilitating Satan's image and society should not be treating this as if it were something perfectly normal. That this is being written off as not a big deal speaks directly to the profound spiritual malaise that this country faces.

1. Satan is not real. Even a lot of Christians don’t believe there is literally a red guy with horns who lords over a fiery underworld, and there isn’t much in the Bible to support that. Most of that conception of Satan comes from Dante’s Inferno, Milton’s Paradise Lost, and various Looney Tunes cartoons. It’s not a real thing and it’s embarrassing for real live adults to not only believe in it but have a moral panic over it (AGAIN).

I don't see how you could read the New Testament and not see the reality of Satan and demons. Christ was tempted by Satan after fasting for 40 days in the desert.  He talks about Satan and spiritual warfare repeatedly, as do his early apostles and disciples in their New Testament letters.

Said reality is only apparent under the premise that the New Testament is objectively correct. Which, of course, many people do not accept.

I don't regret what I said. He said something very offensive. You and I both know that if he said that in the real world and others heard he'd probably be fired from his job.
I very much doubt that. I'd be happy to try it out at my next work function and report back.

Besides, the dude in question insulted the Lord.

Technically, I didn't. All I said was that *if* God was as you say he is, then he'd be an idiot--or at the very least, utterly amoral. Fortunately, there isn't any particularly compelling reason to consider your religious interpretation correct.

Listen here. I will no longer respond to such blasphemy. God is real. There is one God and he created everything in this universe. He is all mighty. He will punish you now and in the afterlife

Are you arguing in favor of blasphemy laws?
Yes, I do favor blasphemy laws

Then go move to Saudi Arabia. This is America, where we have freedom of religion.
Is that racial thing? Is it because I'm Muslim?

I was born in this country. Went to school here. I own land and teach our young. I vote and attend schoolboard/town hall meetings. I'm going to inherent a small business some day
No. It's because nothing could be less American than not supporting freedom of speech. It's the most foundational value of our nation.

Not really. Copyright infringement is very serious stuff. I agree with Nike that the use of the swoosh was the only objectionable part of the shoe.

(Figured I'd put this here rather than start a second thread about Gov. Noem starting fights.)

rrreeeeeEEEEEEE YOU LIVE ON STOLEN LAND BIGOT

It can be a useless point, but the only way America can avoid hypocrisy (and thus, inconsistency) in this situation is if you see a set of values (among them, freedom of movement) as naturally extending to every person in the world.

My man, almost every single square inch of this planet was "stolen" at some point.

Natives fought and stole each other's stuff as well, they just weren't as advanced in certain fields, and as a result, couldn't do it on a larger scale.

I'm well aware. But Dule likes ideological consistency. And Noem is not being consistent here.
