I don't think this is necessarily bad or even anything new. It basically just the postal service telling the states that ballots that were put in the mail a day or two before election day might not arrive by the deadlines the states have set. States should change their laws to allow for the counting of ballots that were postmarked on or before election day

First of all, Michigan won't take days to count. Oakland County released the majority of its absentee ballots the minute the polls closed. The primary was completely counted within a day. All the states mentioned have Democratic executives that control the state's election boards. They are preparing right now to staff absentee boards to count ballots as soon as possible. Pennsylvania's primary took almost a week to count and that is not great by any means. I am sure though that have learned a lot in the first election with significant absentee ballots and will be more efficient in November

Wisconsin has to send out overseas ballots soon. In my opinion, the only option for them is to side with the State Board of Elections to allow the state to follow the deadline.

What's that ?

Our democracy is dead

What state is this!?

CA I would guess.

What I don't get:

This girl has an absentee request from the Trump campaign.

But she also has a ballot already.

How the fu** is that possible ?

Assuming she's from CA, she cannot have a ballot yet.

And what happens if you return that absentee ballot request that the Trump campaign sends to voters ?

Is the request sent back to the Trump campaign and they direct it further to the authorities so the voters get their ballot ?

Are they sent to the state authorities directly, so that the voters get their ballot ?

Or are they sent to the Trump campaign, where they are thrown into the trash so that voters are waiting for their ballots forever and end up voting on election day ?

I also don't get it. She requested an absentee ballot request? It looks like she just got an absentee ballot request from the Trump campaign.

Those are basically a campaign flyer plus the official absentee request form in one envelope. The Trump campaign sends those to their supporters (or at least tries to). She would have to send the request form to her county office.

We need a "No Mail Ballot Left Behind Act" when Democrats get total control of congress
