I am strongly in favour of school uniforms.

They are a great 'leveller' in a school erasing class and income differences. In the long term they are cheaper and less inclined to changes in fashion trends that can often stretch low income families.

Except it's pretty easy to tell when someone can't afford brand new/ fitting/ appropriate school stuff anyway. Forcing everyone to be the same doesn't "erase" anything.
I agree with Aizen. Although, I do support dress codes.

I agree with you guys.

We have enough conformity in society as it is.

My school has a dress code. Can't wear any items deemed 'inappropriate' by the staff and all shorts/skirts have to be at or below the knee-caps. You also can't have your shoulders exposed or really low-cut shirts.

So basically it all affects the girls, not the guys.

That's what we have, although the only people who really pay attention are the Principal and Vice Principals.

Yeah, it really depends on the staff-member if the dress code is enforced or not. Some staff could care less, while others are borderline Nazi on the enforcement.

Certainly being denied the right to see girls walk by in skimpy summer clothing affects the guys rather notably?

Like I said, it's enforcement is pretty spotty. So, Cheesy for me.

I'm against it strongly now since I'm still in high school. Yet, in a year I'll probably be apathetic towards the whole debate. Yeah, I'm fickle like that.

Yup so many people are like that. For example when you ask your parents if they did drugs and they said yes but they won't let you do drugs. Remember just an example.

Yeah, learning from mistakes is so fickle!

Heh, actually not totally untrue. My parents did marijuana back in the 70's, now my mom is against medical marijuana.

That's my point. I agree that they oppose it now. I was being sarcastic about their reasoning.

I gotcha.

There's actually a noticeable clothing difference in Michigan between the eastern and western parts of the state. The western part of the state always dresses well. In their polo's and khaki's and stuff. Us in the east are just satisfied in our baggy jeans and American Eagle shirts.

I, personally, don't "dress up" much. Half the school-year I'm just satisfied scrubbing it.

East Michigan sounds like the way we dress here in Charleston. "Dressing up" is really big down here. You rarely see people in jeans and an american eagle shirt. American eagle is considered trash around these parts.

Haha...

Yeah, we're not much for fashion around this area most of the time. For example, right now I'm in gym shorts and a cut off t-shirt. It ventilates well.

My philosophy:  Comfort > Fashion.

How do you not wear shorts?  Are you embarassed of your legs?  I'd never put on pants if I could help it.

No, I just don't usually wear them. Dunno why.

Haha, Duke, you're so out of touch.

I'm out of touch because I don't wear skateboard shoes?

Yeah, pretty much. Even I wear skateboarder shoes. I love these things.

Haha...

I would have never of guessed....

I'm comfortable in my flip-flops and my sneakers.

Uh...I guess that was directed at me. Thank you...?  Tongue

I wonder why you choose to say that now. You've responded to my posts in the past without mentioning Italy.

I think somebody has a little admirer.

You two have zero street cred compared to me.

Oh! That's how it's gonna be, boy?

Well, let me tell ya somethin', son.

I would run circles around your little white boy a$$!

So don't be gettin' all up in my house, boy. Got it?
